NEWS RELEASE: February 25, 2011
RE: Death Investigation

On Sunday February 21, 2011 the Orange County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call concerning a shooting at 2478 Oilla Road in Orangefield. Upon arrival Deputies found the female resident had been shot.

The victim, who has been identified as STACI LISENBY was transported to Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont via Air Ambulance. Upon arrival she was treated and transferred to the ICU Unit. Mrs. Lisenby and her 14 year old son were the only occupants in the residents at the time of the incident. Mrs. Lisenby is a 6th grade math teacher at Orangefield Junior High.

Investigators spoke with the 14 year old son and received information from him about an intruder that had shot his mother. Investigators then began canvassing the neighborhood and speaking to neighbors and processing the crime scene which did not reveal any evidence of an intruder.

The Beaumont Police Department K-9 Unit also responded to the scene with their bloodhounds and did not locate any evidence of an intruder that had fled the home.

On February 21, 2011 Mrs. Lisenby died as a result of her injuries.

Over the next several days investigators have been busy speaking to neighbors, searching for evidence and following all leads received or generated from the public.

Based off of facts gathered during the investigation a search warrant was served this morning on the Lisenby home located at 2478 Oilla Rd. seeking evidence that the actor had discarded on the property. Found on the property was key evidence that confirms investigators beliefs that this was not a crime committed by a stranger. The suspect in this case is a juvenile and his identity can not be released at this time.

Investigators are currently working to present this case to the District Attorney’s Office for review requesting that charges be filed on the 14 year old juvenile.

I would like to thank RED Fish Rental and the City of Orange for their assistance with equipment needed during the search warrant. I would also like to thank the Orange Police Department, Vidor Police Department, West Orange Police Department, District Attorney Investigators and the Texas Rangers for their assistance in this investigation.
