BC Cardinal Relays return home
For the first time since Hurricane Ike Bridge City is hosting the annual Cardinal Relays on Saturday. Damages to the track have been repaired and runners from the area’s top track and field talent will be competing on the newly repaved surface.
Entering the Cardinal Relays in the boys division will be Bridge City, Orangefield, West Orange-Stark and Nederland.
In the girls division will be Bridge City, Barbers Hill, Orangefield, Little Cypress-Mauriceville, Hamshire-Fannett, West Orange-Stark, Nederland and Hardin-Jefferson.
The Cardinal Relays will be off and running at 9:00 a.m. with the start of the 3200 meter run and field events. The Order of competition for the field events will be the triple jump, pole vault, shot put, long jump, high jump and discuss.
The running events will be held 30 minutes after completion of the field events. The order includes the 4 X 100 meter relay, the 800 meter run, 100 meter hurdles, 100 meter dash, 4 X 200 meter relay, 400 meter dash, 300 meter hurdles, 200 meter dash, 1600 meter run and the 4 X 400 meter relay.
