An apartment at Oakwood Village apartments was the target of burglars Wednesday. Officers responded to the call Wednesday morning and spoke with apartment manager Kathy Womack.

Womack advised police that the resident of the apartment, Essence Young, was out of town and wasn’t expected home until later in the day. Young was last at his apartment on March 15 at 11:30 AM.

Just before police were called about the robbery, a tenant had an unknown white female jiggle the front door knob to her apartment. When she looked outside, the woman was getting into an older dark gray, four-door vehicle. The driver was an unknown black male. The woman immediately went to the front office to report the incident to Womack.

While walking to the front office, the tenant observed the same vehicle parked in front of Young’s apartment. She saw the black male walking down the stairs with a cardboard box.

Both women saw the gray vehicle leaving the area.

When Womack went to check Young’s apartment, she saw that the front door was ajar, the back patio glass shattered, and the apartment was in disarray.

Because Young had not returned home, it was undetermined if anything had been stolen. Womack advised police she would have Young called immediately upon his return.
