UPDATE: Man found dead on IH-10 service road
Authorities have released the name of the man whose body was found on the I-10 feeder road in Rose City yesterday. The man was identified as William Michael Koch, 47, of Vidor. An autopsy has been ordered and there were no signs of foul play. The exact cause of death will be determined when toxicology reports are received from the lab.
On April 29, 2011 at approximately 6:10 a.m., the Orange County Sheriff’s Office received a call concerning a person lying in the grass on the I-H 10 South Service road near Baird’s Bayou in Rose City. ?
Upon arrival Deputies found a white male lying in the grass beneath the overpass and was not responsive. Further investigation revealed that the white male had apparently fallen from the overpass above. The victim’s vehicle was on the overpass and apparently was stopped due to a flat tire.
The Orange County Homicide Investigation Team responded to the scene and is investigating the incident. Justice of the Peace Rodney Price responded and pronounced the victim deceased at the scene. The victim was transported to the Jefferson County Morgue for an autopsy.
The identity of the victim is not being released pending notification of family members. The investigation is continuing and more information will be released once it becomes available.
The homicide investigation team with the Orange County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death of a trucker. The man’s body was found on the IH-10 service road across from his disabled truck Friday morning.
Officers aren’t sure how the man died, and have been on the scene since about 6:00 this morning.
The body is on the east bound service road just past the Purple Heart Memorial Bridge, near Rose City.
Traffic is backed up on the east side of the Interstate as officers are investigating the death. Outside and center lanes are closed, but the inside left lane remains open. Officials have asked that motorists avoid the area if possible.
Beaumont police are assisting in the investigation.
