BC, LCM and Vidor baseball enter playoffs

Three of the five Orange County teams are in the playoffs. In Dist. 20-4A the LC-M Bears will go in as the third seed. Vidor had to beat Livingston in the last district game to force a tie for fourth, which they did 3-0. Then they played a tie breaking game, which Vidor won 7-6, and will go in as the fourth seed in the playoffs.

In Dist. 21-3A, the Bridge City Cardinals will go in to the playoff as the number one seed, and will draw a bye in the first round. Coach Landry received the Gatorade bath after his Cardinals used a five run third inning and a four run sixth inning to take the district title back.

The Orangefield Bobcats did strike first with one run in the second inning. Parker James walked, stole second and scored on a Braxton Smith RBI single. The Bobcats were only able to get three more hits in the contest, all being singles, by Quinton Evans, Jonathon DeRamus, and Austin Scales.

Forrest Zoch kept the Cats in check, pitching six and a third innings, giving up four hits, walking two, hitting one batter, and striking out ten.

Jacob Lemoine came in, in the seventh to close the game.

He collected two strikeouts for the final two outs of the game.

Evans took the loss for the Bobcats, giving up six hits, hitting four batters, walking three, and striking out three.

Westin Crain pitched an inning, giving up three hits and walking one.

DeRamus pitched the seventh inning walking one batter and giving up no runs.

Zoch led the offense for the Cardinals, getting three of the nine hits, two doubles, and a single.

Mitchel Hubbard and Brandon Simoneaux each had two singles a piece.

Preston Pitman had a double and Bryce Sampere had a single.

The Bobcats ended their season with a 13-13 overall record, going 5-5 in district.

The LC-M Bears finished their district season with a loss to Nederland 7-2. LC-M finished 9-5 in district. The Bears only had two hits against Nederland pitching, a double by Alex Blem and a single from Kevin Adams. Kody Smith, Reid Fults, Ryan Carline, and Hunter Gonzalez all got some work in on the hump.

The WO-S Mustangs finished their season with a win against Hardin-Jefferson 4-0. Zane Anderson had another good night on the mound striking out ten Hawks. The Stangs finished district play at 4-6, and 8-16 overall.

In Dist. 20-4A, LC-M will play a one game series, tonight @ 7:00 pm at LC-M against Baytown Lee. Vidor will take on Goose Creek tonight at 7 p.m. in Goose Creek, Friday at 4 p.m. in Vidor and Saturday at 1 p.m. in Barbers Hill (if necessary).

In Dist. 21-3A, the Cardinals received the bye and will play the winner between Sealy and Smithville. The Cardinals scheduled two warm up games. They played the Buna Cougars yesterday and will travel to Jasper to take on the Carthage Bulldogs Friday. The Bulldogs are ranked tenth in the Texas High School Baseball Coaches Association and eighth in the Class 3A baseball polls.
