Lamar University Aquatics will hold open registration for its Learn to Swim program from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., May 23 to 26. Swim lessons are available for ages 1 year to adult.

Classes are divided into skill levels ranging from preschool to adult. For the first time, the aquatics program also will offer parent-and-child classes for 1- and 2-year-old children. Parents are required to enter the pool with their child.

Participants can choose from four sessions with a variety of day and evening class times available: June 6 – 16, June 20 – 30, July 11 – 22, and July 25 – August 4. Each session consists of eight 45-minute classes, Monday through Thursday.

Cost is $65 per student per session, with a $5 discount for each additional student from the same family, up to $10.

The Learn to Swim program is open to everyone in Southeast Texas. Classes are taught by American Red Cross certified instructors and use the American Red Cross curriculum.

Registration will be at the Sheila Umphrey Recreational Sports Center, 4400 University Drive. Registration must be completed in person, and payment is due at the time of registration. MasterCard, Visa, cash, checks and money orders payable to Lamar University will be accepted.
