A quickly spreading 500 acre wildfire burning in Jasper county, has called for the evacuation of residents, and about 20 campers in East End Park, and CR 151 is closed. The fire started Thursday.

According to the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office, the fire is expanding to the west and evacuations are being ordered for residents living off of FM 156, FM 150, FM 151 and the Sandy Creek Park area.

Firefighters thought the fire, which is burning in eight year old pine plantation land, was under control, but it jumped a fire break and was growing continuously Friday, according to Melanie Spradling with the Texas Forest Service.

Spradling added that the wildfire is 10 percent contained, and multiple dozers and air tankers are being used to fight it.

Jasper Volunteer Fire Department is also on the scene.

Residents are urged to use extreme caution in the area.
