Current and future students at Lamar State College-Port Arthur will continue to benefit from an endowed scholarship fund created in 2009 by Total Petrochemical’s Port Arthur Refinery to honor the Refinery’s $2 billion expansion project.

Total added to the fund May 31, 2011, when Total-PA spokesperson Pat Avery presented a check for an additional $20,000 to LSC-PA president Dr. Sam Monroe. With this contribution, along with others made by Total, brings the corpus of the scholarship to $100,000.

“The company intends to make further contributions to help students pursue education and training at Lamar State College-Port Arthur,” Avery said.

Monroe said, “We certainly appreciate this very generous gift.” Monroe said. “It will help students both now and into the distant future.”
