An Orange man was arrested on several charges Friday afternoon when Officer Jeffery Busby with the Orange Police Dept. stopped him for traffic violations. Upon stopping the vehicle, Officer Busby made contact with the male driver of the vehicle who stated that he had warrants and “was going to jail”.

The driver of the vehicle was identified as 54 year old Daniel Delassus. When asked for his driver’s license and proof of insurance, Delassus told police he didn’t have either. While checking through dispatch, it was learned he had several warrants out of West Orange.

While waiting for confirmation on the warrants, police asked Delassus if he had anything illegal in his vehicle, to which he replied no, and gave police consent to search the vehicle.

While removing the keys to the vehicle, Officer Busby observed a clear plastic wrapper containing an off-white colored rock, believed to be crack cocaine.

Delassus was transported to the Orange County Jail, where he was booked on possession of cocaine, expired registration, no operator’s license, and two failure to appear bonds..
