Orange firefighters fight suspicious blaze
The City of Orange Fire Dept. responded to a house fire early Saturday morning. The Orange Police Dept. received a report from a pedestrian who told them a house was burning in the 300 block of Schley.
The police reported that the house was fully engulfed before the first fire crews arrived on scene. First arriving crews determined the house was vacant and started extinguishing the fire.
Fire crews used two engines to protect surrounding structures and extinguished the fire.
The City of Pinehurst Fire Dept. was on stand-by to respond to other emergencies in Orange while Orange fire units were on the scene of the Schley St. fire.
Fire officials say the fire is suspicious since the structure was vacant and had no working utilities.
No injuries were reported and crews remained on the scene until 11:00 to insure all fires and hot spots were extinguished.
Anyone with information about the fire is urged to contact the Fire Marshall at 988-7360.
