Marjorie Belle Swords Neiberger, 64, a resident of Georgetown, TX., and a former long-time resident of both Orange and Beaumont, died Friday, Dec. 2.

Margie was born April, 4, 1947, to Jane Black Kennedy and Marion Louis Swords, Jr., in Orange.

She retired, after more than 30 years employed as a nurse, working primarily caring for the elderly in geriatric convalescent homes. She enjoyed the company of her beloved pet Chihuahuas, Sid, Nick, Beetys, and Pearlie.

Margie is survived by her sons, David Alan Desormeaux and his wife, Lori of Vidor, Louis Lee Desormeaux of Houston, Gary Richard Kellogg of Georgetown; grandchildren, Margie, Emily, Lauren, and Kaleigh Desormeaux; great-grandson, Rhett Alan-Micheal Milstead; brothers, Micheal Swords of Patterson, LA, Scott Hoyt of Brentwood, TN, James Poke Swords of Thailand, Robert Swords of Clear Lake, John Kennedy of Port Arthur, and Richard Swords of Austin; sisters, Theresa Googy Knott and Patricia Lynn Swords of Patterson, Helen Hoyt of Franklin, TN, and Sheila Kennedy Stowell of Orem, Utah.

She is preceded in death by her parents.

A gathering of family and friends, to celebrate Margie’s life, will be held on Saturday, Dec. 10, from noon until 3:00 p.m., at First United Methodist Church’s Malloy Center, in Orange.

Interment services are private and will be attended by her immediate family and close friends only.
