Milton "Bud" Barker Briggs, Sr.,69, died Thursday night in Christus St. Mary's Hospital, Port Arthur, after an illness.

Bud was born in Port Arthur to James Everett and Mabel Jones Briggs. Bud graduated from Bridge City High School in 1960. He retired as supervisor for the Bayer Corporation (Goodrich Gulf) and moved to the Fairmount Community near Hemphill in 2005. He was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church in Bridge City and the First United Methodist Church in Hemphill. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and an avid outdoorsman.

Mr. Briggs is survived by his wife Barbara Briggs of Hemphill, three sons; Milton Briggs, Jr. and his wife Liz of Hemphill, Richard Briggs and his wife Cindy of Bridge City, and Reese Briggs and his wife Mary Ann of New Caney, TX .; seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Ramona Scott and her husband James of Bridge City.

Visitation will be Sunday, March 11, beginning at 12:30P M until service time at 3:30 PM in the Starr Funeral Home Chapel, 510 Starr St., Hemphill.

Burial will follow in the Fairmount Cemetery, Hwy 87 South, Hemphill.
