OC Sheriff’s Dept. responds to shooting in Vidor
On Saturday March 10, at approximately 7:20 p.m., the Orange County Sheriff’s Office received a call concerning a shooting victim at the Waffle House Restaurant at I-10 and Main Street in Vidor.
Upon arrival Deputies found a W/M in a vehicle in the parking lot with a gunshot wound to his left leg and hip. The victim was transported to Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont by Acadian Ambulance.
Once at the Hospital, investigators were able to speak to the victim and determine that the shooting occurred at a residence in the 1100 block of Liberty Street in Vidor. The victim advised that he had been at the residence when he got into a dispute with the homeowner over some property. He advised that the homeowner fired two shots at him from a handgun. One of the bullets struck him in the left leg and the other struck his left hip area.
The victim’s friend drove him from the scene to the Waffle House where Acadian EMS and the Sheriff’s Office were contacted.
The gunshot victim has been identified as Tracey Barnes, a 27 year old Vidor resident. The victim underwent surgery and was admitted into the hospital for his injuries.
Investigators from the Criminal Investigations Division responded to the scene and spoke to several witnesses. It was determined that a disturbance ensued between Barnes and the homeowner over some property. At some point during the disturbance Barnes was shot by the homeowner.
The investigation is ongoing and at this time no arrests have been made and no charges have been filed in this case.
