Dolores M. Boudreaux Saunders

Dolores M. Boudreaux Saunders, 83 of Vidor, passed away Tuesday, March 20, at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital after a lengthy illness.

She was the youngest daughter of Arthur Lowell Boudreaux and Mathilda (Hotard) Boudreaux and graduated from Lutcher Stark High School in Orange. She was a member of the world famous Bengal Guards; a member of the Vidor Senior Citizens; she drove a school bus for Vidor ISD for approximately 30 years; she had worked at Vidor Memorial Funeral Home and Dorman Funeral Home in Orange; she kept score for the Women’s Softball League during the time her husband, Charles Irvin Saunders coached in the league. After his retirement they enjoyed traveling and playing golf. She married Charles January 18, 1947; they were happily married for 45 years.

She is survived by their eight children: Kitty Ann Prouse and spouse Dennis, Charles Ross Saunders and spouse Mary, Donita Dolores Simmons and spouse Delano ‘Shorty’, Patricia Goodwill, Raymond Louis Saunders and spouse Julie, Robert Saunders, Harriett Susan Taylor and spouse Billy, Matthew Irvin Saunders and fiancé Cori Lichenstein; 18 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren.

Other survivors include two sisters, Alexine Adams of Orange and Carmel Norton of Baytown, and one brother Paul Lowell Boudreaux of Orange, brothers and sisters in-law from Iowa: Richard and Molly Saunders, Kenneth ‘Pepper’ and Phyllis Saunders, Dale and Dee Saunders and Kay and Paul Eker along with many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband Charles, her parents Arthur and Mathilde Boudreaux, mother and father-in-law Raymond and Leone Saunders, brother, Arthur Owen Boudreaux, sisters and brothers-in-law Addie and Sam Sampson, Raymond and Jean Saunders, Richard Adams, Stan Norton, Florence ‘Cootie’ Boudreaux and granddaughter Nikki Reachelle Taylor.

Pallbearers will be: Brian Keith Prouse, Chad Kristopher Prouse, Brandon Anthony Prouse, Charles Kevin Saunders, Billy Joe Irvin Taylor and Codey Charles Saunders; honorary pallbearer: Tiffini Jo Prouse.

A funeral liturgy outside mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am Saturday, March 24, at Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor, with burial to follow at Del-Rose Cemetery in Vidor.

Visitation will begin at 6:00 pm, and a rosary at 7:00 pm Friday, March 23, at Memorial Funeral Home.
