The string of robberies in Orange continued Thursday about 10:40 a.m. with a third robbery occurring at the Capital One bank located 302 N. 5th Street. Investigators believe the suspect is the same woman who robbed Red’s Liquor on June 12 and The Honey Stop on June 14.
The woman has been identified as 54-year-old Elizabeth Ann Hardin. She also used the name Elizabeth Perry, according to Cliff Hargrave of the Orange Police Department.
An anonymous caller called the Orange Police Department an hour prior to the robbery and reported a woman matching the robber’s description was seen at the Lamar State College-Orange campus. Police responded to the scene but were unable to locate her.
According to a student worker at LSC-O, Ashley Guillory, there were reports of the suspect in the bathroom of the Allied Health building. She was reported to have been wearing a green shirt, black shorts and a ballcap but had stopped to changed her clothes.
After changing her clothes into a blue shirt, blue skirt and sunglasses she went across the street to the bank where she gave a note demanding money to a teller. Before the teller could grasp the note the woman quickly retrieved it before the teller could read it.
According to Hargrave, the woman indicated she had a gun during the two previous robberies. However, while speaking to the bank teller, she indicated there were two people waiting outside.
The teller gave the woman the money and she left the scene with an undetermined amount of cash. It is believed she left on foot. No customers were inside the bank of the time of the robbery.
Perry said she is prepared if she should see Hardin again and is ready to call 911.
“This makes me feel uneasy,” she added.
Investigators have obtained a warrant for Hardin’s arrest following the robberies at the two businesses.
