 The benefit is underway for Todd Edgerly at the Community Center in Bridge City. The bands are playing and there is still time to get in on the silent auctions and raffles. Winners in those will be announced at9 p.m.tonight.

 The have a wide range of items being raffled for  $1, $5 or $10; everything from gift baskets to a 4 day cruise fromGalvestonor a Destin, Fla. Vacation.

 A live auction is being held between band performances. The Ruxpins are on stage now and will continue until 6:30 p.m. BB & Co. joined by Jivin’ Gene will perform 7 – 9 p.m. After the silent auction and raffle winners are announced at 9 p.m. Alligator Handshake will perform from 9:30-11 p.m.

Winners do not have to be present, so you could still stop by, enter the raffles and pick up supper if you didn’t want to stay. Boudain and links are $3 each. Pulled pork or brisket sandwiches and a bag of chips is five. Cokes and water are $1.

Edgerly, 48, is a 1982 graduate ofBridgeCityHigh Schooland has lived in Jefferson County. He is employed by and is brother of IBEW Local 479.

Todd’s parents, Gene and Flo Edgerly, are also well known in Orange County. Flo was formerly the justice of the peace of Precinct 3.

Todd was diagnosed with glioblastoma, a very aggressive brain cancer, in March.  “It’s one of the fastest growing malignancies that there is as far as brain cancer,” said Stephanie Edgerly, Todd’s sister-in-law. The benefit is to help offset medical expenses not covered by insurance.

Todd made an appearance with his parents at the benefit.
