The Friends of the Bridge City Public Library had another successful summer reading program, which was held each week at the Bridge City Community Center. Over 100 children from the Bridge City and Orangefield area attended each week for story time. Guests included the Gulf Coast Museum, an exotic bird owner, Texas Parks and Wildlife and a martial arts demonstration. The Strutters from Bridge City High School Drill Team handed out awards Wednesday, July 25.

Summer reading participants who logged their time read during the summer received goody bags made up of gifts from area sponsors. The sponsors included Wal Mart, Whataburger, Spinning Wheels, MCT Credit Union, Firestone Credit Union, Dairy Queen, Colorado Canyon, Chicken Express and Bridge City Bank. The Gulf Employees Credit Union sponsored the awards ceremony and food for the children and parents during the ceremony.

If anyone would like information about joining The Friends of the Bridge City Public Library, they may contact the library at 735-4242.
