Children plant a garden at Shangri La Botanical Gardens

Children 12 years of age and under are needed to help plant the fall garden in the Children's Garden at Shangri La Botanical Gardens and Nature Center. On Saturday, Sept. 15, from 9:00 a.m. to noon, we will be planting a new crop for the fall season in the Children's Garden, and we need you and your children's help. Participating children will receive a free plant to take home and watch grow.

The Children's Garden at Shangri La is not only a place for children to learn about gardening and the different types of vegetables and herbs, but is also an important community asset. Every year Shangri La donates more than 500 pounds of vegetables to local soup kitchens to help feed the needy. This is a wonderful way for parents to help their children experience not only the wonders of gardening, but also a great way to instill a sense of community, knowing that their efforts help others in need.

Located at 2111 West Park Avenue in Orange, Shangri La is open to the public Tuesday through Saturday, 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. and Sundays, noon - 5:00 p.m.
