The Bridge City Cardinals (1-1) chalked up a Dist. 21-3A shutout over the Hamshire-Fannett Longhorns, 30-0, on Friday.

The Bridge City defense snuffed the Longhorns to just four first downs and scored the first touchdown of the evening. Hunter Stout scored on a blocked punt 5:13 in the first quarter. The defense also dropped HF for a safety late in the third quarter.

Cardinal receiver Tanner Cervenka came down with two touchdown passes from quarterback Daniel Faulk. Faulk went to Cervenka on a nine yard pass to open the second quarter. The duo connected again on a 19 yard touchdown 10:33 in the third quarter. Senior quarterback Daniel Faulk scored Bridge City’s final TD on a 15 yard scamper with just 10 seconds left in the third.

Bridge City running back Ashton Hunter racked up 129 yards on 25 carries. Kruz Dearbonne collected 46 yards on eight carries.

The West Orange-Stark Mustangs (6-0) remain undefeated shutting out the Orangefield Bobcats, 54-0, at Dan R. Hooks Stadium for homecoming. Mustang quarterback Jimmy Salter completed nine passes for 220 yards and three touchdowns. Salter also rushed for a TD. Mustang receiver J’Marcus Rhodes was the recipient for two of Salter’s passes. Rhodes scored on a 16 yard pass in the first quarter and a 48 yard touchdown pass in the second.

Mustang linebacker Colin Janice is having an exceptional season. Janice scampered 70 yards for a second quarter touch down on a blocked punt. The Chain Gang defense chalks up a fourth shutout of the season.
