Bridge City man killed in Neches River Bridge accident

A Bridge City man was killed Saturday. Oct. 20, at approximately 2:51 pm., when the vehicle he was riding in was struck from behind. According to reports, the Toyota Corolla that 31 year old Steven Scott Curtis was in slowed for an accident that had already occurred on the Neches River Bridge in Beaumont.

The Toyota was struck by a Ford F350 pickup, knocking it into another vehicle. The truck then struck two other vehicles. There were three people in the Toyota, a female driver, Curtis, and a one year old baby.

The baby was in a rear facing car seat in the back seat, and Curtis was riding next to the child. Curtis died as a result of his injuries received in the crash.

The other passengers in the Toyota, and the passengers in the other vehicles did not have life threatening injuries.

Beaumont police are still interviewing witnesses and investigating the accident. No charges are being filed at the present time.

Funeral arrangements for Curtis are pending with Claybar Funeral Home in Bridge City.
