Joseph James Romano, 92, of Kirbyville was born Feb. 15, 1920 in Orange, and passed away Thursday evening Nov. 29 at home, with his family in attendance. Joe proudly served his country as a member of the 1307th Engineer Construction Battalion. During the Asiatic-Pacific campaign of World War II, he was awarded two bronze stars and the Philippine Liberation Ribbon with one bronze star.

Joe is survived by his wife of 71 years, Lora, his five children, Carmine; Don and wife Sylvia; Ella Mae and husband Louis Bland; Jo Ann and husband David Parden; and Annette and husband Larry Ford, 13 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren.

A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am, Monday, Dec. 3 at Our Lady of LaSalette Catholic Church in Kirbyville, with internment to follow at St. Mary's Cemetery in Orange, at 1:00 pm.
