The Orange County Sheriff’s Office received a call on Sunday, May 5 in reference to a human body found in the Neches River near the Purple Heart Bridge. Both Orange County Sheriff’s Office and officers from the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office responded to the call.

Orange County Justice of the Peace Precinct 2 Judge Dunn is conducting the death inquiry and has ordered an autopsy. The body has been transported to the Jefferson County Forensic Medical Center for autopsy and identification.

No other information is available for release until autopsy report is complete and identification is made. The Orange County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating the incident as a death investigation at this time.
