Mildred G. Allen

Mildred G. Allen passed away May 22, at her home. She was 93 years old. Mildred was born on Sept. 7, 1919 in Orange, to Eddie and Alice Gallien. In 1946, she married Elmo W. Allen, and was married for 55 years before his death in 2001. They resided in the Cove for more than 60 years.

During the war she worked for several years at Perry Bros and Green’s Department Store. Mom was a remarkable mother and grandmother who will be greatly missed. She loved being with her family, watching television, and listening to KOGT to keep up with all the happenings in Orange.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmo; parents, and eight siblings.

She is survived by her children and their spouses, Suzy and Wayne Ferguson, Jerry and Janice Allen, Bobby and Mary Ann Allen, Doug and Nancy Allen, Nan and Randy Dillard, Ann and Keith Folsom, Ronnie and Sharon Bruton; 11 grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.

She is also survived by her dear friend and caregiver, Lyn Winter. Lyn cared for mom for over nine years and became an adopted daughter. We can never begin to express our deepest appreciation for all the care and love you have given mom. We would also like to thank Southeast Texas Hospice for the care and support.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons and honorary pallbearer is Eli Ellestad.

Funeral services will be 2:00 pm, Sunday, May 26, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange. Officiating will be the Rev. Jeff Bell of Calvary Baptist Church in Port Acres. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens near Bridge City.

Visitation will be from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm, Saturday at the funeral home.
