Mildred Davis Johnson 88, of Deweyville, passed away Saturday, June 22. She was born on Sept. 6, 1924 in Hot Springs, AR., to her parents, Ezra E. Davis and Jessie P. (Daniels) Davis. She was a faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church in Deweyville, having moved there in 1965. Mildred will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother and friend to many. She enjoyed gardening, crafting, and spending time with her family.

Mildred was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Msgt (Ret.) Percy Leroy Johnson; brothers, Doyleton Davis, Sr. and Brice Davis, and sister, Geneva (Davis) Petty.

Those who will cherish her memory are her son Jon David Johnson, and Natalie Smith, of Deweyville; daughters, Cathy Knouff, and Jerry Orr, of Maryville, TN., and Patti Taylor, and husband, Paul Taylor, of Little Cypress; grandchildren, Jeremy Knouff and Mandy, Kevin Knouff, and Charissa, Ryan Knouff , and Brittany, all of Maryville, Paul Michael Taylor of Louisville, KY., Philip Taylor (Brandi) of Corpus Christi, Patrick Taylor, and Peyton Taylor of Orange; and six great grandchildren, Scott, Garrett, Karys, Kolton, Cooper and Caden.

Family and friends will gather from 5:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. Tuesday, June 25, at Calvary Baptist Church in Deweyville. Funeral service to honor her life will be at 2:00 P.M.Wednesday, June 26, at the church. Brother John Fortenberry, pastor of the church, as well as Mildred’s grandson, Paul Michael Taylor, will be officiating.
