At approximately 7:53 am, there was a three vehicle crash in the westbound lanes of Interstate 10 near Rose City. According to the investigating Trooper, the crash occurred in the westbound lanes of Interstate 10 where the lanes are reduced from three lanes down to two lanes due to construction on the Purple Heart Bridge.

A 2005 Nissan Altima was traveling in the inside lane of Interstate 10 and a 2008 Ford F150 truck traveling in the middle lane of Interstate 10. Where the lanes began to reduce from three lanes to two lanes, a 2000 Toyota Celica was approaching at a high rate of speed and attempted to quickly merge in front of the Ford truck. The driver of the Toyota, 25 year old Magan Burrows of Beaumont, struck the right front side of the Ford truck. The momentum of the collision caused Burrows to continue into the inside lane striking the 2005 Nissan Altima. After colliding with the Nissan, Burrows’ vehicle overturned and came to rest in the inside lane.

Burrows was transported by ambulance to St. Elizabeth Hospital with unknown injuries. The driver of the 2008 Ford F150 truck, 64 year old Arthur Martin of Port Neches, and the driver of the 2005 Nissan, 39 year old Willis Young of Louisiana, were not injured.

Due to the crash, westbound lanes of Interstate 10 were shut down for a short period of time, but have since reopened.
