The Little Cypress-Mauriceville Bear Stage Players are proud to present their first production of the school year. “The Red Velvet Cake War” by Jessie Jones, Nicholas Hope and Jamie Wooten is a riotously funny Southern-fried comedy that shares the crazy antics of the Verdeen cousins – Gaynelle, Peaches and Jimmie Wyvette.

The cousins are hosting a family reunion in their hometown of Sweetgum, Texas and bet their mean old Aunt LaMerle that they can whip up a red velvet cake that beats the pants off hers. Unfortunately, they face an uphill battle as a parade of wildly eccentric Verdeens gathers on the hottest day of July smack-dab in the middle of Texas tornado season.

The cast of twelve and crew of eight will present the show to the public on Saturday, Oct. 12 at 7:30 PM, Sunday, Oct. 13 at 2:30 PM, and Monday, Oct. 14 at 7:30 PM. Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for students, and can be purchased at the door.

Don’t miss this hilarious romp of a comedy that will have you laughing from start to finish. The students are under the direction of LCM Theatre Director Cory Broom.
