Carl Edward Strong, 61, of Bridge City, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 14, at his home. Funeral services, with military honors, will be at 6:00 p.m. Thursday, Jan.16, at Claybar Funeral Home Chapel in Bridge City with cremation to follow. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Thursday, at the funeral home in Bridge City.

Born in Fort Worth on March 22, 1952, Carl was the son of Arthur Paul Strong and Ollie Ruth (Hudnall) Strong. Carl retired from the Coast Guard, loved to fish, play golf and watch sports, especially football. His greatest enjoyment was spending time with his family and playing with his granddaughters.

Preceded in death by his father, Arthur Paul Strong, Carl is survived by his wife, Maria Strong of Bridge City; mother, Ollie Ruth Hudnall Strong of Vidor; sons and daughters-in-law, Kerry G. and Carrie E. Strong of Nederland, Larry P. and Amber Strong of Bridge City; step-children, Daniel Dawe and wife, Britni of Nederland, Carla Strong, and Glen Siang, both of Koror, Palau.

Carl is also survived by his grandchildren, Abigail, Marlie, Emery, Lakely Strong and Dilly Dawe; sisters and brother-in-law, Esther and Trent Burton of Ignacio, Co, Pauline Warden of Vidor; brothers and sister-in-law, Paul Strong, Vernon Strong, both of Vidor and Floyd and Penny Strong of Pittsburg, Ks.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22718, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; or St. Jude Children’s Research, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105.
