UPDATE - Body found beneath Rainbow Bridge

UPDATE

A body found in the Neches River near the Rainbow Bridge Monday, was identified Tuesday in a joint investigation by the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office the Vidor Police Department, according to a news release.

Christopher Reich, 35, of Vidor, was reported missing on Jan. 14, the news release stated.

The cause of death was drowning, according to autopsy results.

PREVIOUS REPORT

Monday, at approximately 5:00 pm, the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office was notified by the US Coast Guard that they had located a body in the Neches River near the Rainbow Bridge.

The Jefferson County Sheriff's Marine division was dispatched to recover the body with the assistance of the Port Arthur Fire Department. The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office is requesting the public's assistance in identifying the victim.

The victim is described as a white male, approximately 25-35 years of age. He is heavily tattooed with a beard and mustache.

The investigation is being conducted by the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office, and is on-going.

Cause of death has not been determined at this time, and autopsy results are pending. Anyone with information as to the possible identity of the victim is asked to contact the Criminal Investigation Division at 409-835-8411.
