Marjorie Dean Murdock, 85, of Deweyville, passed away Saturday, Feb. 15, at the Medical Center of Southeast Texas in Port Arthur.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 A.M. Friday, Feb. 21, at the First Baptist Church of Deweyville. Graveside service will be held at 3:00 P.M. Friday at the Oak Hill Baptist Church Cemetery in Many, La. Visitation will begin at 5:00 P.M. Thursday evening at the church.

Born on July 30, 1928 in Many, to Henry L. and Lora Bell (DeBose) Williams, she remained in this area, w,here she grew up and graduated from Mt. Carmel High School in Mt. Carmel, La., in 1946.

She then attended Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, La., where she obtained an associate degree in education.

Marjorie then went on to marry her first true love, J. A. Murdock, Jr., in Nome, Tx.

She then worked for Kountze Elementary School as a teacher until 1963.

It was at that time that Marjorie and her husband, J. A. relocated to Orange, where she went to work for the Little Cypress–Mauriceville C.I.S.D., until she retired in 1986.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Deweyville.

Marjorie is preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, J.A. Murdock, Jr.

Grateful for having shared her life are her son, John A. Murdock and wife, Peggy of The Woodlands; daughter, Nancy J. Murdock of Baton Rouge, La., and her grandsons, David and Will Bennett.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Dorman Funeral Home in Orange.
