The Bridge City Chamber recognized Entergy Texas as their February Business of the Month. The award was presented at the Chamber’s Monthly Networking Coffee held at Paradise Donuts & Deli located at 2875 Texas Avenue, Suite B in Bridge City.

Entergy Texas is much more than just our local provider of reliable electricity; they are also our neighbors, friends and a community supporter. An integrated energy company engaged primarily in electric power production and retail distribution operations; they have been a very stable part of the community for many years. In 1993 Gulf States Utilities merged with Entergy to form what is now Entergy with the company later being split into state entities under the umbrella of Entergy. Entergy Texas Inc. now serves the Texas territory formerly served by Gulf States Utilities providing electricity to more than 420,000 customers in 27 counties.

Entergy owns and operates power plants with approximately 30,000 megawatts of electric generating capacity, including more than 10,000 megawatts of nuclear power, making it one of the nation’s leading nuclear generators.

Entergy delivers electricity to 2.8 million utility customers in Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi and in the days after the hurricanes, Entergy Texas was instrumental in helping the area get back on its feet as quickly as we did.

Their crews were very quick in responding to help clear the roads and eventually get all of the county’s electricity back on.

We don’t realized how much we take our electricity for granted until we don’t Entergy Texas is involved in working with economic development within the community as well as offering opportunity for local non-profits to receive grant funds.

One of their newest programs set up to give back to the community is currently being implemented.

The Entergy Texas Bright Student Scholarship will offer twenty $2,500 Scholarships to Entergy customers.
