Mauriceville schools hold groundbreaking
Little Cypress-Mauriceville CISD celebrated its first groundbreaking, as construction nears at the Mauriceville Elementary and Middle School campuses. The “200” building, built in the mid 1950’s and attached to the round top gym, will be demolished and new construction will join the two schools. A new, joint kitchen with separate cafeterias for each campus will be built, as will additional classrooms and a gym at MMS. Renovations will be made to both campuses to help make the schools more secure.
The next groundbreaking will be at Little Cypress Elementary and Intermediate Schools on June 3, at 1:00 p.m., with LCM High School and Little Cypress Junior High to be announced later this year.
The LCM CISD Board of Trustees and Administrators turned dirt today to symbolically begin the first phase of construction. Participants are, from left, Director of Maintenance Phillip Matthews, MMS Principal Todd Loupe, Assistant Superintendent Greg Perry, Superintendent Dr. Pauline Hargrove, Board Vice-President Rex Peveto, MVE Principal Buffy Knight, Board President David Jones, Board member Randy McIlwain, Director of Secondary Curriculum and Instruction Stacey Brister, and Director of Elementary Curriculum and Instruction Julia Dickerson.
