Two arrested on felony drug, weapon charges

Wednesday, at about 4:30 pm, officers with the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, West Orange and Vidor police departments, executed a search warrant at a residence in the 16900 block of FM 1442, in Mauriceville.

During the search, investigators located approximately 8 grams of methamphetamine. There were also a number of firearms, some of which are considered prohibited weapons by state law, due to certain modifications to the weapons.

The two occupants in the home at the time, were the homeowner, 36 year old Michael Kamm Morgan; and a female, 23 year old Ashley Nicole Posey, both of Mauriceville.

Both suspects were arrested and booked into the Orange County Jail for possession of a controlled substance, and for prohibited weapons, both felonies. Each are being held on $25,000 bonds, and both currently remain in jail.

Sheriff Merritt was on scene during the search warrant, and said that the OCSO is committed to using all resources to get illegal drugs out of the communities of Orange County.
