As the Lamar Cardinals football team (4-2/1-1 SLC) steps on the football field Saturday looking to continue its best start since the 1974 season against No. 9 Southeastern Louisiana, several activities will be taking place around the stadium prior to kick off.

The battle between LU and Southeastern Louisiana is being sponsored by Flint Hills and fans who enter through Gates 1 and 2 will receive free bandanas and mini footballs while supplies last. Fans will also receive pink rally towels beginning at 4 p.m., while supplies last.

Beginning at 3:30 p.m., Big Red and Lu invite all children to stop by the Kids Zone where they can play on bounce houses provided by Mid-County Party Supply. Also taking place at 3:30 p.m., fans can make their way over to the dining hall to watch the tradition of the Walk of Champions, as head coach Ray Woodard and the Lamar Cardinals make their way to the Provost Umphrey Stadium.

The End Zone Angles will be stationed at Gate 1 selling pink out shirts for $15. The money raised from the shirts will be donated to the American Cancer Society. Members of Zeta Tau Alpha will be located outside of Gate 2 selling T-shirts to support the Susan G. Komen organization.

As the Cardinals race onto the field, they will run through a tunnel made of fighters, survivors and supporters of those battling breast cancer.

A tailgating band will perform a concert beginning at 4:30 by the marquee at the Northwest corner of the stadium. The concert will last until approximately 30 minutes prior to kick off.

Saturday’s kick off is slated for 6:00 p.m. from Provost Umphrey Stadium.
