OFD battles apartment fire

Last updated 10/14/2014 at Noon

At approximately 2:30 am, members of the Orange Fire Department were called to the 3300 block of Ridgemont for an apartment fire.

The first arriving engine crew arrived on scene within four minutes to find one section of a two story apartment complex with heavy fire and smoke showing, with extension through the roof. Given the heavy fire conditions, a defensive attack was used to battle the blaze. The fire was brought under control within about 45 minutes, but crews remained on scene conducting overhaul operations for the next several hours.

The apartments had been under renovation and were vacant at the time of fire. There were no reported injuries. No occupied apartments were damaged and no residents were displaced due to the fire. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
