The project to rebuild the Cow Bayou Bridge in Bridge City is about two thirds complete. The job started in January of 2014 and is expected to take 476 days to complete. A little over 200 days have been spent. The swing mechanism has been refurbished and the new roadway is paved, the posts for the handrails are in place and waiting for the steel beams to be bolted in place.

Gibson and Associates, Inc. was the winning bidder with a projected cost of $9,451,858.96. The completion date will be late spring or early summer, depending on the weather conditions through the winter months. The heavy construction and the majority of the concrete pouring are finished.

Once the guard rails are in place, the work on the bridge approaches will begin and the new bridge will be tied to the existing roadway and traffic will be shifted back to the “New, Old” bridge.
