An Orange man bit off more than he could choose when he tried to shoplift spare ribs from the Kroger store on 16th St.

The would be robber, 44 year old Jammie Lee Davis, apparently bit one of the store's employees when the employee tried to stop Davis from stealing the meat.

According to Capt. Cliff Hargrave, Davis also used a folding box cutter knife he had in his pocket to threaten employees, including the one with the bite on his arm.

Employees approached Davis at about 6:30 a.m. after they noticed him putting two packages of spareribs in his coat, Hargrave said.

Employees called security and one employee tried to stop Davis, who pushed her. Other employees intervened and Davis bit one of the men.

He is at the Orange County jail. His bond was set at $25,000.
