Little Cypress Junior High choir teacher, Stephanie Teague, received notice this week that two of her students had been named “Outstanding Soloists” by the judges for whom they performed at the recent Texas Music Educators Association Solo and Ensemble Contest. Rachel Belcher and Julian Purgahn were selected over the hundreds of other students who performed at this annual competition.

Rachel sang “The Lass With the Delicate Air,” written by Michael Arne (1741-1786). Julian Purgahn’s song was “Wayfaring Stranger,” arranged by John Jacob Niles, who adapted it from the original “Sacred Harp.”
