LIT receives scholarship funds from Smith-Hutson

Lamar Institute of Technology has received $61,000 from the 2014-2015 Smith-Hutson Scholarship Program.

These funds will be distributed to 16 students enrolled in academic programs at LIT and used for tuition, books, supplies, mileage, housing and meal plans.

The scholarships are intended for students with established financial need and academic potential who are seeking a degree or certificate at LIT. As long as students maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 2.5 and completes 24 credit hours toward their degrees or certificates each academic year, they will remain eligible to receive the scholarship for the duration of their two-year program.

For students in certificate programs, they must maintain a 2.5 cumulative GPA and enroll in a minimum of 12 semester credit hours toward their certificates in order to continue to receive the scholarship.

In Fall 2014, Smith Hutson awarded LIT students $59,500 in scholarship funds.

Applications for the Fall 2015 semester will be accepted through March 24 via the LIT Web site.
