The Lamar men’s basketball game at McNeese State will be televised on ROOT SPORTS announced network officials Thursday afternoon. The game is still slated for a 7 p.m. tip off from Burton Coliseum in Lake Charles, La.

ROOT SPORTS is the regional television home of the Houston Astros and Houston Rockets. The network launched Nov. 17 and is now available on DirecTV, AT&T U-Verse and Xfinity. The network’s four regions – Southwest, Northwest, Pittsburgh, and Rocky Mountain – combine to reach 13 million households across 22 states and own exclusive programming with more than 25 teams and conferences. It’s carried on DirecTV channel 674.

Lamar enters the week with a 14-13 overall record, and sixth in the Southland standings with an 8-7 mark. The Cowboys are 11-15 overall, and 5-10 in league play and will face Nicholls Saturday before hosting Lamar, while the Cards will take on Incarnate Word.

Lamar enters the final full weekend of the regular season with a shot at its first winning record since the 2011-12 season. The Cardinals need to win two of their final three games to assure themselves of an above .500 record, with two of the final three games coming at home.

Big Red heads to Lake Charles looking for its first series sweep of their rivals since the 1993-94 season. Lamar has not beaten the Cowboys in Lake Charles since the 1997-98 season.
