OPD involved in vehicle pursuit

April 22, at approximately 9:40 p.m., the City of Orange Police Officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a vehicle while in the 3100 block of 16th St. The vehicle failed to stop and continued traveling northbound on 16thStreet. The vehicle then turned westbound onto Clark Lane and the north onto Meeks Drive to Allie Payne where it turned west and drove to the Fox Run Apartment Complex.

The vehicle then stopped for the apartment's entrance gate to open and officers approached the vehicle on foot. As officers were approaching the vehicle, the driver began to accelerate in the direction of an officer standing near the driver’s side of the vehicle. A second officer then fired two rounds from his duty weapon into the passenger’s front tire of the vehicle. The vehicle then continued into the complex a short distance before the driver stopped and fled on foot. Officers pursued the suspect on foot and was unable to apprehend him.

No one was injured and no property was damaged during this incident. This investigation is ongoing by the City of Orange Detective Division.
