Saturday May 2, at about 10:15 a.m., emergency personnel responded to an air plane crash near Cypress Wood Crossing in Orange. Cypress Wood Crossing is located approximately one-half mile north of Orange Municipal Airport Runway Four.

The initial investigation indicates that the air craft was departing north, from runway four, struck an electric transmission line, and then crashed in a field near Cypress Wood Crossing Drive. The air craft was a Beechcraft Bonaza. The air plane was occupied by Larry Webb of Bridge City and Ron Jackson of Beaumont. It is not certain at this time who was the pilot in charge of the air craft at the time of the crash. Both were flown to hospitals by separate air rescue helicopters. The full extent of their injuries are not known at this time.

The investigation of the accident is being coordinated between the Orange Police Department, Texas Department of Public Safety, Federal Aviation Administration, and the National Transportation Safety Board.

Emergency medical treatment was provided by Acadian EMS and the Orange Fire Department.
