Orangefield Bobbie Ruth Smith Lavoilette, of Orangefield, passed away peacefully on Monday, Feb. 2, 2009. Funeral services will be held at Pinehurst United Pentecostal Church, Friday, Feb. 6, at 1:00 p.m. The Rev. W.W. Smith and the Rev. Herman Gerald will officiate. Interment will follow at Autumn Oaks in Orange. Visitation will be 5:00-9:00 p.m., Thursday at the church.

Bobbie was born on Dec. 2, 1932, in Detroit, Texas.  She was the daughter of Almous Bolton and Molly Slaton.

Bobbie worked for many years as a cook for Gary’s Coffee Shop in Bridge City where she was affectionately called “Red” because of her red hair. She loved spending time with her family, shopping and cooking.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Virgil Smith, who she was married to from 1950 to 1987, and Willie Ray Lavoilette 1994-2008.

She is survived by her sons, Donnie G. Smith Sr. and wife Elva Fay of Vidor, Ronnie A. Smith Sr. and wife Robin of Mauriceville, Gary D. Smith Sr. and wife Kathy and Mark E. Smith all of Orangefield. Fifteen grandchildren, thirty-two great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.

Serving as pallbearers are Danial Hendon, Robert Smith, Gary Smith Jr., Bobbie Vincent, Thomas Martin and Gary Martin. Honorary pallbearer will be Donnie Smith Jr.
