Two officers which have served the Orange community faithfully for many years have been promoted.

The Orange Police Department held a special promotional ceremony this past Friday morning inside the Danny Gray room for Jason Ashworth and Jonathan Baggett, as each man was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant.

"This is a very exciting time in our department when we are able to promote two people who have worked through the ranks," said Chief Lane Martin of the Orange Police Department. "I'm very proud of the effort each of these men have given in taking this test, because it is a very difficult test and covers so much material."

Ashworth worked with the Bridge City Police Department for 16 years before coming to the Orange Police Department, where he has served the community for the past six years.

"He is such a great role model for young people," Martin added. "I'm very proud of the effort he gives every day."

Baggett has been with the Orange Police Department for 10 years. He worked as a patrol officer for eight years and has been a detective for two years.

"He is a dependable, hard working officer and has served our community well," Martin said. "I'm very appreciative of his hard work he shows on a daily basis."
