Cold front approaches - severe weather, strong winds possible

Last updated 2/22/2016 at Noon

The National Weather Service in Lake Charles is expecting another round of showers and thunderstorms on Tuesday. Some of these storms will have the potential to be severe, including tornadoes, damaging winds and large hail.

Timing-wise, the threat for the storms will be in the morning in southeast Texas, and the afternoon hours in southwest, south central and central Louisiana.

Besides the severe weather threat, it will be a very windy day. A wind advisory will also be in effect for the entire region. Strong southerly winds of 15 to 25 mph will gust over 30 mph at times. Due to the strong south winds, minor coastal flooding will also be possible, especially during high tide in the afternoon.
