Angela was born on Saturday, January 14, 1939, in Hyattsville, Maryland, to the late Hazel (Buckmaster) and Melvin Bowen.

She was a resident of Orange, Texas, for over 30 years and a resident of Hyattsville, Maryland, prior.

Angela was a homemaker, who loved being with her family and especially spending time with her grandchildren.

She was very artistic and a talented painter, and drawer; dancing and QVC shopping were also pastimes Angela enjoyed.

The police scanner she loved listening to always made sure she knew everything before anyone else.

Angela had a sense of humor that always kept everyone laughing.

She could always be found wearing a funny t-shirt around town.

In addition to her sense of humor, Angela was a very strong woman, who had a tough and resilient spirit that helped her boast that she was the longest person on hospice care, in Orange County.

Angela was a resident of Pinehurst Nursing Home for 3 years and was loved by all those who were around her.

Having her one coke a day was something she really looked forward to; on special days, Angela would use her cell phone to have pizza delivered to her room at the nursing home.

Every day, her strong will and resilience would let everyone at Pinehurst Nursing Home know, “Today, I’m going home”! Angela was a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, who was loved, and will be missed, by many.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Hazel and Melvin Bowen.

Those who will cherish her memory most are her daughters, Hope Simon and her husband, Shea , of Orange, Texas, Crystal Simmons Ratliff and her husband, Dale, of Lusby, Maryland, and Laurie Simmons Burton and her husband, Greg, of Conway, South Carolina; son, Warren Simmons and his wife, Angela, of Herndon, Virginia; grandchildren, Lindsey Ratliff Bean, Casey Ratliff, Jefferson Ratliff, Bonnie Simmons, Walter Simmons, Crystal Vermilion Spillman, Candace Burton Blowers, Caitlen Simon Howington, Chelsey Simon, Carley Simon, and Cassie Simon; and 13 great- grandchildren.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Pinehurst Nursing Home of Pinehurst, Texas, and Southeast Texas Hospice for the love and care they provided.
