To Christie Kasko's knowledge, there's nothing like Total Care — a general medical practice — in Bridge City or in Orange County for that matter.

What separates Total Care from other medical facilities are the services they provide such as total primary care, total occupational care, total health and wellness and corporate compliance total 24/7.

"As far as I know, this is the only thing like it in Bridge City," said Kasko, the company's marketing director. "It's a multi-specialty clinic with occupational care on one side and acute care on the other side of the office. We're for anything someone would see their regular doctor for."

Total Care in Bridge City opened Tuesday. They are located at 1650 Texas Ave., Suite E There is also a location in Port Arthur. They plan to open a location in Dayton at the end of May.

"I'm excited about this because I've lived in Bridge City for the past 20 years," she said. "It's special to have a hometown thing like this. Personally, I've had to go out of town for medical care before this. Our background is blue collar working people and this is a place people can go to everyday. It's a medical home. We've created a place."

Another amenity offered by Total Care is an employer can do drug screens, physicals, treat injuries, etc. They also have a mobile unit in which they can visit plants on site.

Total Care takes commercial insurance and Medicare. Kasko said they also have affordable cash plans.

In addition, for a baseline physical they add blood work in which they don't bill the customer. She said many issues can be identified by blood work.

"It's a huge value," she said.

Total Care will start a membership program by visiting the website at http://www.tcmedicalhome.com.

Membership has its privileges with free biometric screenings, but one must first sign up.

Kasko publishes a newsletter twice a month with the latest happenings. The clinic will perform physicals for University Interscholastic League and Southeast Texas Junior Football League, free of charge during the month of June on Saturdays at the Bridge City location and Fridays at the Port Arthur location.

They will also reach out to the community with health education classes.

One situation Total Care would like to address is for contractors who are working from out of town can have their illnesses and/or injuries now looked after by a "family doctor" instead of relying on an emergency room for care.

"We want to do the right thing by every patient, everytime," Kasko said. "Our goal is healthier people."
