Record turnout expected for midterm, bond

In addition to Tuesday’s election for county, state and national representatives, voters who reside in the West Orange-Cove school district may cast their ballot for or against a $25.75 million bond.
Projects covered by the bond include safety and security; HVAC, bleachers and infrastructure; technology initiative; classroom furniture and equipment; fine arts improvements; transportation center; sports facilities; event center.
Early voting for the school election continues through Friday at the Orange Public Library, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. On election day, Tuesday, Nov. 6, bond voting will be from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at 12 different polling places, the same locations as for the general election.
Through Monday, Oct. 29, a total of 1,827 early votes had been cast for the bond election.
In the general election, the first six of the 10 days of early voting saw a mid-term record of 14,039 voters. In the last mid-term election, there were 10,626 votes cast, according to Orange County Elections Administrator Tina Barrow.
Early voting continues from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Friday at the Orange Public Library, Bridge City Public Library, Mauriceville Volunteer Fire Department and Vidor’s Raymond Gould Community Center.
Voting on election day will be from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at 34 county voting boxes:
Box 1 is at Cove Baptist Church; 2 at WOCCISD Administration Building; 3 at North School; 4 at Alexander Homes Senior Citizens Center; 5 at WOCCISD Administration Building; 6 at North Orange Pentecostal; 7 at St. Francis Catholic Church; 8 at LCM Administration Building; 9 at Sabine River Authority; 10 at Winfree Baptist Church; 11 at West Orange City Hall; 12 at West Orange Stark High School; 13 at Masonic Temple; 14 at West Orange Stark Elementary School.
Also, 15 at Texas Department of Transportation; 16 at Mauriceville Volunteer Fire Department; 17 at Pine Forest Baptist Church; 18 at Vidor Junior High School; 19 at Raymond Gould Community Center; 20 at Vidor High School; 21 at Rose City City Hall; 22 at Pecan Acres Baptist Church; 23 at First Christian Church Orange; 24 at Bridge City High School.
