Bridge City native Josh Smalley is going home. Smalley has been chosen as the new athletic director and head football coach at Bridge City High School. Bridge City High School held a college signing event for one of their student athletes on Monday. Haley Munoz signed her scholarship to play softball with the Seahawks at Lamar State College Port Arthur. Haley is thrilled for the chance to play softball at the next level. Santa Claus made his annual pre-Christmas Day visit to West Orange on Monday. Santa traded his sleigh and eight reindeers for a blue and silver fire truck to arrive at the West Orange City Hall. The Orangefield Bobcats took home the championship trophy the first weekend of December from Big Sandy. The Bobcats played the host school the Big Sandy Wildcats ranked fourteenth in the state for class 2A on Saturday and won 36-26 to be the champions. Bridge City graduate Taryn Doiron has earned First Team All-America volleyball honors from the National Junior College Athletic Association Division III (NJCAA DIII). Doiron is a freshman at Dallas College Eastfield. Taryn is the setter for the Harvester Bees at Eastfield.
