    The Greater Orange Area Chamber of Commerce held their 9th Annual Mardi Gras Grande Ball at the VFW on Hwy. 87 in Orange.     An Orange County deputy sheriff who was shot in the chest twice last week is listed in stable condition and is recovering in a private room at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont, according to Det. Sgt. Chad Hogan of the Orange County Sheriff’s Office. “Deputy Ashworth is still in Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital and doctors are pleased with his progress.     UPDATE: Nevil Meghani, 26, of Vinton, La., lost control of his motorcycle Tuesday night and collided with a Chevy Tahoe belonging to Raymond Butler, of Orange. Meghani was transported to Baptist Hospital in Orange where he was pronounced dead. Butler and the other passenger in the Tahoe were not injured.     A lowboy trailer valued at $2500 was discovered stolen Tuesday, Jan. 31 from a local business.
