During their meeting Monday, Orange County Commissioners continued their fund raising efforts by considering the services of American Municipal Services for debt recovery. Amanda Stucker, of AMS, told the court their services would be at no cost to the county. Instead, the debtor would pay their fees associated with their county debt. A man who was observed in the Waffle House parking lot, on his hands and knees talking to the concrete, was arrested for public intoxication. Orange Police were dispatched to the restaurant in the 4200 block of 27th St. Monday, Nov. 18, at 7:19 am, in reference to a possibly intoxicated subject. When officers arrived at the scene, they were unable to find any subject fitting the description of the man. A veteran firefighter was named the new fire chief for the city of Pinehurst at the regular meeting of the city council on Tuesday night. Local poet and longtime Orange resident Pearl Burgess was left “speechless” Tuesday afternoon as friends and relatives gathered at the courthouse to honor her and so she could receive two proclamations.
